Going to Taiwan?

ESL teachers, who want to be legally hired by Taiwanese employers, need to go through health checks.

In Thailand, teachers also need a medical certificate when schools apply for their work permit. This can be easily obtained from any soi clinic for less than 100 baht. All you need to do is declare that you don’t have any health problems. Easy, isn't it?

It's true... I moved to Taiwan in December. The health check here can only be done at specific, government approved hospitals, and can run anywhere from 1,000-2,000 baht.

It also takes about 7 business days to process, which is a true pain in the neck when your entry visa is only good for 60 days and it takes about 30-40 to process your work permit and work visa!

I wish you good luck at your new school and don't be a starger. You never know, one day you might return to Thailand...

Thanks. I'll certainly be back to Thailand many times, though probably never again as a teacher.

Why not as a teacher? Was it that bad?
